Lawmakers introduce bills to address explicit images created by AI

Annapolis, Maryland – As artificial intelligence evolves, the state legislature is trying to find ways to prevent people from being harassed and punish people who use it for the wrong reasons.

Deputy Leslie Lopez defended such a bill at home.

“We’ve heard about Taylor Swift or AOC, and this is something that affects the normal people and our laws need to be modernized,” Lopez said.

This year, she has two laws to combat deep fake images used to harass and get revenge on people.

It focuses on constant gunfire of sexually explicit materials that a person may send someone.

Another person uses AI to create revenge porn and gives people the opportunity to sue someone to distribute online.

“This allows victims to sue this type of porn creators and distributors, which I think feels like the victim wants to have the tools to fight this.” Lopez said.

Deputy Jesse Pippy has another bill before the home focuses on creating revenge porn to stop using AI.

“The reason we’re doing this is because advances in AI allow anyone in this room to go online and create a visual representation of their colleagues here in a compromise situation and share it.” said Pippy.

Artificial intelligence is getting so good that people can tell them to scroll through their social media feeds and create this porn material automatically.

It makes more people vulnerable and victimized.

“If the face appears to be the correct parameters, the image is taken and corrected,” Lopez said.

Both bills have been introduced multiple times, and their main hurdle is to get the wording right to ensure that it will be held in court if someone tries to sue them.

They are sure this session will be completed.
