New features coming to Adobe Express

Adobe is relocating Express, an all-in-one creative platform, as a single solution for both individuals and businesses. The arrival of generated AI and new identities have been gained, and now the integration of AI agents opens up more possibilities for the platform. Adobe integrates these AI agents to help you create content and offers features such as image generation, template proposals, and design customization.

These agents are in an age where creativity is not only enhanced by technology, but fundamentally reimagined through it.

“We now have the ability to rethink creativity itself,” he said. “You are no longer limited to proficiency in templates, your own assets, or tools,” said Govind Balakrishnan, senior vice president of Adobe’s Express Product Group & Digital Media Services.

With Adobe’s AI agent embedded deep in Express, users can now simply explain what they want to create in natural language. Agents understand intent, build design elements, generate motion or video, present complete works that can be further refined if the user chooses.

“The magic lies in the fact that you don’t need to tweak anything, but you can,” emphasized Balakrishnan. “For those who want to go deeper, the tools are still there.”

Lower the barriers to creativity

One of the fundamental shifts driven by AI agents is how to lower the barrier to entry. Previously, design was limited to those with time, tools, or technical know-how. Nowadays, with rapid creation and natural language interface, Express allows anyone to translate their imagination into a digital canvas.

“We don’t need to know how to manipulate pixels anymore to be creative,” explained Balakrishnan. “You need to be able to express your ideas.”

When asked about the thin line between machine-generated output and human creativity, Balakrishnan is clear. It’s about enhancement, not exchange.

“AI agents have a head start for users, but at the end of the day, the power is still in the creator,” he said. “You can start with the prompt and get the help of the machine. Or you can jump into all the details and adjust them. It’s about your own appetite and intentions.”

This flexibility makes the process easier, but it doesn’t become creatively hollow. Users retain their authors and control.

Ecosystem Benefits

When asked about competing platforms like Canva, Balakrishnan said that one of Express’s most powerful differentiators is its integration with Adobe’s larger ecosystem, creative cloud, acrobatics and more. This ecosystem approach means that the workflow is not siloed. Videos edited in Premiere Pro can be quickly converted to social-enabled clips in Express.

Similarly, the brand team can style Acrobat legal documents in one click and send them out for a creative overhaul.

More importantly, how the generator AI is built into the platform from scratch. “It feels like a natural part of the creation process because it’s built into the context within the workflow,” he said.

Another advantage for users is Adobe’s solid copyright stance, Balakrishnan added.

“Everything created through Express’s generative AI tools is commercially safe. Whether you’re a solo creator or a large company, you don’t have to worry about rights issues,” he said.

India remains the core of innovation

Adobe’s AI ambitions are not limited to Silicon Valley. In fact, India has emerged as a strategic focus market for express platforms. Over the past year, Adobe Express has grown a staggering triple of adoption in India. According to Balakrishnan, this momentum is driven by three main factors: mobile-first access, local language support and culturally relevant templates.

The multilingual landscape of India shows both challenges and opportunities. Adobe has responded by localizing the Express UI in eight languages, including Hindi, Tamil and Bengali. This makes it easier than ever for creators to create content in their native language and reach diverse audiences with minimal effort.

If the current wave of AI-driven design feels innovative, Balakrishnan believes it is just the beginning. Over the next five years, he predicts a redefine what it means to be “creative.”

“We need to change the benchmark,” he said. “Creativity isn’t just about drawing or editing, if you can visualize an idea and make it clear. You’ve already created it.”

This change is of great importance not only to creators, but also to how we understand education, marketing and even innovation. With AI agents in the center, Express could be the engine that drives this new era of accessible, inclusive and intelligent creativity.
