Arlington, Virginia., June 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ – New research data from 408 global scientists and researchers reveal a rapid rise in AI adoption. As budgets become tighter and workflow efficiency becomes more important, scientists are accelerating the use of AI and raising a red flag on its limitations.
The latest findings from Bioinformatics’ Beyond the Bench series reveal that academic, government and industry researchers are evaluating and integrating AI into tasks and workflows. While 87% of experts report using AI for work-related research tasks, a sharp increase from 75% in 2023, the study has raised concerns about data fidelity, cybersecurity risks, and preparation of current AI solutions for complex life science environments.
While companies are looking for faster insights and operational efficiency, they face institutional barriers to confident AI implementations, this snapshot of market sentiment arrives at a pivotal moment.
Key insights from AI in Life Sciences:
AI adoption is high, but its value is different. 87% of researchers report using AI in their workflows, while only 27% of Avid users say they are delivering high value. Top providers to gain traction: Scientists have identified Microsoft, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Google Deepmind as key organizations in the development or deployment of AI in life sciences. Efficiency Promotion Demand: Most users cite faster processing, improved throughput and time savings as their main benefits. The gap between training and infrastructure persists. Lack of clarity in regulations, inadequate user training, and organizational preparation are major hurdles adopted.
