Adobe is launching its first artificial intelligence smartphone app, Firefly, as part of a broader move to meet the growing demand for AI-generated images and videos on social media platforms.
The app is now available on iOS and Android and includes Adobe’s own AI model and models from partners IDEOGRAM, LUMA AI, Pika and Runway.
Firefly was previously only available as a web version using Google and Openai models in addition to Adobe. These models are also available on mobile apps. The service provides unlimited basic image generation to subscribers using Adobe’s models, and offers premium features from Adobe and its partners at an additional cost.
The app’s prices match the web version starting at $10 per month.
Adobe said it did not disclose payment details for the partner models used in the app. The company said the AI model is trained only on content that has legal rights to use, providing protection against copyright claims. Adobe previously released AI tools along with the mobile version of Photoshop.
Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s chief technology officer for digital media, said the company’s approach to training data is a key factor for many users.
