Dell Technologies Inc.’s announcement this week that it will introduce new products and services for Microsoft Corp.’s computing platforms shows that business customers continue to be concerned about data protection, resiliency and security. It also highlights customer interest in simplifying the deployment of AI workloads in multicloud environments such as Microsoft Azure.
“We listened to customer feedback in this area and are delivering significant enhancements to APEX File Storage for Microsoft Azure,” said Varun Chhabra (pictured), senior vice president of product marketing at Dell. “We’re essentially introducing a Dell-managed version, which we believe will be the foundation for AI-driven workloads on Azure, bringing managed capabilities and managed advanced file services. , we want data in Azure so that we can run demanding analytical, HPC, and AI workflows on file data that resides on structured data that resides in Azure.”
Chhabra spoke with Rob Strechay of theCUBE Research at Microsoft Ignite 2024 during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio. They discussed Dell’s latest announcements on Microsoft Azure and continued focus on security. (*Disclosure below.)
AI workload optimization
In addition to releasing new enhancements for APEX File Storage for Azure, Dell also announced an accelerator service for Copilot+ PC, a product first introduced by Microsoft in May. Dell’s new support is aimed at streamlining the adoption of AI-powered PCs that are entering the computer market.
“They provide customized implementation plans, optimize workflows for their customers, and help customers become future-ready as they begin to consider deploying Copilot+ PCs to their workforce.” says Chhabra.
To help with security, Dell APEX Protection Services for Microsoft Azure provides protection across edge locations, data centers, and remote office locations. The service provides encryption and authentication protocols, as well as zero-trust security controls that prevent data from being modified after it is created.
“We provide enterprise-grade protection for our customers and their data, but with a unique focus on resiliency,” Chhabra said. “With APEX Protection Services in Microsoft Azure, customers get secure storage with multiple layers of zero trust security, data immutability, encryption, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access control. is included.”
