Thiruvaruru, Central University of Tamil Nadu, has launched a program that uses artificial intelligence to convert faculty research work into multilingual podcasts.
According to the CUTN release, the AI-driven podcast was designed in a discussion format that captures the essence of faculty research work, aimed to bridge the gap between high-level academic work and the wider public, leading to a new era of accessible, inclusive and engaging educational content.
Produced in Tamil, English and Hindi, these podcasts are available at Cutn’s official website https://cutn.ac.in/podcast/. Podcasts are also available in other languages upon request. Then, in a short period of time, the materials will be available in the Cutn Library.
Each episode is curated to maintain consistency of the original work, allowing you to make sure it is appealing and understandable to a non-expert audience, including the local community. The release added.
The initiative is not just digitizing research works, but the institute also addresses the evolving preferences of today’s mobile-first multitasking learners by turning research work into a dynamic and easily consumed audio format.
Vice President M. Krishnan said the institution’s vision is to make academic research more comprehensive, accessible and dynamic. When used ethically, AI becomes a powerful enabler of education. Professor Krishnan added that episodes of each podcast receive strict human reviews, from script preparation to narration and final editing. This initiative encourages the transition from passive reading to active listening. This is perfect for today’s mobile learners.
In terms of normal behavior, Cutn uses AI to modernize its academic curriculum. The university uses AI tools to analyze and upgrade silavies developed by research committees (BOS) in each department. Differences identified through AI-assisted reviews are quantified and presented to the research committee for approval.
Currently, the Chemistry and Biotechnology division is undergoing this AI-driven curriculum analysis. After the approval of the BOS, the revised syllabus will be implemented next year. CUTN plans to extend this process to all sectors and ensure continuous curriculum enhancements to current academic and industry standards, the release added.
