When we launched Deepmind in 2010, many people thought it was an exaggerated science fiction technology that has been far away from General AI.
Now, we live in an era when AI research and technology are progressing in exponential functions. In the next few years, AI, and ultimately AGIs may driven one of the largest social, economic and scientific changes in history.
Therefore, today’s Sundar has announced that Google Research’s DeepMind and Brain team are working together as a single focus unit called Google Deepmind. By combining our talents and efforts, AI promotes progress into the world that helps AI to solve the biggest challenges facing humanity, leading this unit and building it with you. I am very excited to cooperate. At the same time, AI, which closely collaborate with a wonderful colleague in the Google product field to dramatically improve the lives of billions of people, change the industry, promote science, and provide services to various communities. There is a real opportunity to provide research and product.
By creating Google DeepMind, we can reach that future faster. More abilities and general AI construction require safe and responsible to solve some of the most difficult scientific and engineering issues in our times. To do so, it is necessary to simplify how to make a decision to focus on faster speed, powerful collaboration and execution, and focus on achieving the maximum impact.
Through Google Deepmind, Google and Alphabet as a whole will create next -generation AI breakthroughs and make this in a bold and responsible way to do this, use computing power, infrastructure, and resources. Sundar, Jeff Dean, James Manyika, and I have been working on a wonderful partnership because I have been working to adjust my efforts for the last few months.
