When ChatGpt first came to the market, it was all about making the best chatbots, but things have changed since. Nowadays, companies are competing to create the best AI deep search tools. Today, Microsoft has announced two new tools: researchers and analysts, which can help you investigate and analyze your data.

These tools aren’t surprising as other companies like Google have announced tools like this. The idea behind it is to take effort away from doing research. Many projects require users to explore a wide range of subjects in depth. This can take quite a while. Well, there are AI tools that will do research for you. Therefore, research assistants appear to be the new frontier of AI.

Microsoft presents two new research tools: researchers and analysts

It’s very easy to know what these tools do with their names. The brain behind the researchers is Openai’s model O3 deep study. Since this is an inference model, you can see the way you think about it when you are generating a response.

When using researchers, we use information provided by the company. Let’s say you want it to get some information for you, it dives through files and documents in your Microsoft 365 account and finds it for you.

Not only that, but you can actually create documents based on your information. Below is an example. In this example, the tool inference can be viewed in real time. The complete process took a few minutes and I had to upload the video a bit. This could be a great tool for those who need researchers on their team.

Next is the analyst. This tool is built to think of like a data scientist. This is based on Openai’s O3 Mini model. The core feature of this tool is to incorporate a large amount of data and answer questions about it.

If you have a large data set and need to gather information from it, you will usually need a data scientist. Now, along with an analyst, you can ask any questions or anything about the data you may have. Analysts look at the information and provide clear, concise insight into the dataset.

These features will be rolled out to Microsoft 365 Copilot users in April. This is essentially part of a frontier program that allows Copilot users to test new features early.
