China’s technology hub Shenzhen announced a series of measures on Wednesday, including providing “vouchers” for research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) models, AI training and corpora. Model training comes with a guarantee of up to 500 million yuan. ($68 million) annually for businesses;

According to the “Several Measures for Shenzhen City to Build an Artificial Intelligence Pioneer City” announced by the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, this is a “national new generation AI innovation and development pilot zone and a national It is said that it will help “build new AI innovations and applications.” Build a pilot zone and build an AI pioneer city. ”

Regarding the “AI model voucher”, companies will be issued up to 100 million yuan per year to reduce application costs.

For companies that provide model services and develop applications based on generative AI models registered with the National Internet Information Agency, companies that have reached a certain scale and achieved good results will receive 30% of the model purchase amount. You can receive up to 2 million yuan in funds, not exceeding 2 million yuan. It costs money.

In order to reduce research and training costs for AI models, “training vouchers” worth up to 500 million yuan will be issued annually.

Subsidies of up to 10 million yuan, not exceeding 50% of the service contract amount, will be provided to enterprises, higher education institutions, and research institutes that rent intelligent computing power for large-scale model training. According to the proposed measures, the subsidy rate for start-up companies will be raised to 60%.

In addition, “corpus vouchers” worth up to 50 million yuan will be issued annually to promote open sharing and trading of the corpus and advance the construction of the data element market.

This measure also supports the practical application of AI products. Up to 3 million yuan will be awarded to companies that achieve a certain sales volume for the year’s best-selling products, such as AI computers, AI smartphones, and smart wearable devices.

Shenzhen has been at the forefront of AI and promoted the development of new high-quality production capabilities. In the context of technology competition between China and the United States, Liu Wei, director of the Human Machine Interaction and Cognitive Engineering Laboratory at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, said the city has been at the forefront of supporting the emergence of industrial examples in the field of AI. . the news agency told the Global Times on Wednesday.
