A Alexis Ohanian-backed AI startup plot raises $4.1 million to decode social video

AI startup plots, which help brands understand the growth of short-term video content across social media platforms, have raised $4.1 million in seed funding.

Investors include Alexis Ohanian’s venture company Seven Seven Six, XYZ Capital, and Trust Fund Sofia Amorso. As the plot expands its AI-powered video analytics platform, cash injections are directed towards product development.

Most social listening tools rely on captions and hashtags to track brand mentions. Plot uses AI to extract insights directly from video content from Tiktok, Instagram Stories and Reels and YouTube Shorts. This identifies the product’s presence and video transcripts, even if the creator has not tagged the company.

“Our industry is extremely thirsty for innovation. It hasn’t evolved for over a decade,” said Megan Duong, co-founder and CEO of Plot. “Most social listening tools analyze captions only, but we don’t know what’s actually happening in the video.”

The startup combines project and asset management tools with AI-powered social listening for marketers to plan campaigns, organize content and analyze video trends across social media. Use Generated AI to collect data from user-generated content, social listening, and brand-specific prompts to filter valuable brand insights.

Video content is projected to account for 82% of global internet traffic in 2025, according to video production company Vidico. While Tiktok, YouTube shorts and Instagram dominate the space, platforms like X and LinkedIn are also increasing their video capabilities to stay competitive.

Plot wants to help marketers surface organic UGCs that are not noticed. For example, if the creator has a beauty product without explicitly tagging the brand, Plot’s AI can still detect the product.

Beyond UGC identification, the plot improves the data so that the brand only checks relevant mentions. Baby brand Frida, for example, uses plots to exclude references to artist Frida Kahlo while surfaced videos about her parenting experiences. This is how I discovered the creator of Tiktok @hotmommajourney who shared a video about Frida’s postnatal relief form without giving a name to the brand. The post has since received 2 million likes.

“The main use case is to surface all UGCs where people use the brand in an organic setting,” Duon explained. “Brands can find opportunities to connect, engage and even start partnerships.”

The plot also places it as a brand safety tool. The platform flags AI generation UGC used in affiliate marketing schemes and false information campaigns. Duong did not share any specific examples, but she said that as AI-generated content grows, brands are increasingly using plots to monitor the risk of potential reputations. I pointed it out.

Since its launch in 2024, Plot has been a brand in categories such as Lululemon, Staud, Tory Burch, La Roche-Posay, Empire State Building, Smartsweets, Once on a Farm, Prime Bites, and Frida. It’s signed.

The company generates revenue through enterprise clients signing up for their annual plans with dynamic pricing based on usage and consumption.
