Welcome to me “brain” garbageSki Week (And post a Super Bowl Shocker!) Edition. I’ve just returned from Mammoth Mountain, where I ski for a few days, and “dump” is the correct word. Beautiful powder-like (Even whiteout)conditions(Finally!). But I’m off track. Let’s get into it. beginning, the “Main Event” – My conversation with Andy Beach, former CTO of Microsoft’s Media & Entertainment Group, recently left the tech giant over 12 years later. Andy’s insights are always clever. It is informed by countless interactions with leading media/technology players. And now he has left the mothership, so he will be more open than ever.
Next is the “AI Litigation Tracker.” – Major Generativeai/Media Case Updates by Large Companies McKool Smith (you can See all the latest major updates via this “Tracker” link)). Meta had yet another very bad week in court. In a major development, federal judges are currently considering whether “crime and fuel exceptions” apply to Meta’s lawyers’ conduct. Oops. (See the synthesis of McKool’s partner Avery Williams). Check out Law Professor Edward Lee (link here) – Also, it will summarize the impact on meta. But why is meta important to you? Now, please read my dear reader, that is…

Apple is reportedly developing an AI-assisted airpod with a camera. Read about it here. A bit of Scott’s “Prof G” Galloway. Cupertino clearly hears. I’m still watching it now.
A few weeks ago I was sitting with Andy Beach, former CTO of Microsoft’s Media & Entertainment Group. We discussed the threat of Deepseek (real or not) – how generative AI transforms media and entertainment (which is significantly) – and how he thinks he will look back on it in 10 years from now ( (Creativeness as the beginning of new dismissals). Andy and I certainly don’t agree at all times. But I always learn a lot from our discussions. I think you’ll do that too. It’s a straightforward, enlightening and entertaining conversation. Please see here.
