Statistical software and AI for the ongoing social science research workshop at Nagaland University

The Faculty of Economics, Nagaland University, began a three-day workshop on “Statistical Software and AI AI Applications and AI AI Applications” on March 17, 2025. This will continue until March 19, 2025.

The workshop was launched in front of the patrons of Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Deputy Prime Minister of Nagaland University, and Professor MK Sinha, Head of Social Sciences. Professor Patnaik worked on the workshop, highlighting the growing importance of statistical software tools in modern research and the integration of AI into academic research. He praised the Ministry of Economic Affairs for successfully organizing the workshop and acknowledged his commitment to promoting research excellence.

The inauguration session was chaired by Dr. Lembeni Kikon, an assistant professor at Nagaland University and organising the workshop’s secretary. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Y. Temgenzur Jameer, dean of the Faculty of Economics, and T. Professor Zarennngu Ezn received a thank you vote. Professor B. Kilangla Jamir is the convener of the workshop.

The first day of the workshop featured Dr. Saurabh Agarwal, professor of machine learning and data analysis at HBTU Kanpur, a consultant and trainer for IBM and UNESCO. He led extensive sessions on the application of R software in data analysis, providing participants with a comprehensive, hands-on training experience. His session focused on practical implementation of statistical methods and equipped attendees with essential skills for data-driven research in social sciences.

On the first day of the workshop, participation from faculty, research scholars and students from across the university’s faculty was seen, fostering an interactive, collaborative learning environment.
