Muscat: The Student Research Council on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity were held at Muscat’s Middle East University on Thursday.
The seventh edition of the conference discussed the role of AI in fostering transitions between different sectors, highlighting the importance of young people involved in shaping the digital future. It was held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The conference seeks to promote academic research and innovation and connect educational outcomes (graduates) with labor market needs.
Activities at Thursday’s meeting included panel discussions, parallel research presentations, skill building workshops and competition on AI technology.
The conference also included workshops on CV preparation, testing on cognitive ability, specialized sessions on supply chain AI applications, education, information security, computer vision, and multimedia computing.
Some of the papers discussed during the conference will be published in peer-reviewed journals and selected to provide students with the opportunity to present their research findings and present academic achievements.
The conference reflects an academic strategy aimed at combining education and labor markets, particularly by providing a research platform that addresses modern requirements and enhances students’ capabilities for innovation and development.
