Meta has announced a new AI app that combines chatbot capabilities with a social media experience. Launched on Tuesday for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, the Meta AI app offers most of the usual aspects of the AI app. Get information, generate content, and analyze photos and other images. However, it is the social media section that distinguishes meta AI from its rivals.
“The answer is even more useful because Meta AI is built to get you to know,” Meta said in a news release. “It’s easy to talk, so interacting is seamless and natural. It’s more social, so you can use the voice capabilities of Meta AI while multitasking and doing other things.

To get started, you can enter requests or speak to your assistant using natural language. While talking to a chatbot is not a new or novel skill, Meta argues that responses via the Llama 4 model are more personal, relevant and conversational.
You can also choose the voice of meta from a variety of options that mimic certain celebrities like Dame Judi Dench and John Cena. You can also ask AI to generate or edit images. via text prompts or voice conversations.
By default, Meta AI can search the web for the latest information to answer your questions. However, this is done on simple and factual matters, but this is not ideal for rich conversations. If you want to interact with you in a more natural and friendly way with AI, you can rely on an option called Full Duplex. The main drawback here is that this mode does not have access to the web or real-time information.
Voice conversations, including full duplex mode, are available to start in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Given that Meta owns and operates Facebook and other social networks, AI is designed to learn and know certain things about you, whether you like it or not. This means you can extract information you share across social media, such as profiles and favorite content. For now, however, personalized answers are only available in the US and Canada. Additionally, you can instruct Meta AI to remember certain things about you.
Following the theme of social media, Meta AI is designed to keep you connected with others. The app includes Discover Feed, which displays AI prompts that others are using across the Meta network. If necessary, you can share your own prompts to send via the app.
For those who own a pair of Metaray-Bans, the new AI app is where you control your smart glasses. To that end, the Meta AI app will be fused with the Meta View companion app from Ray-Ban Metagrass. All paired devices, settings, and media will automatically appear in the Devices tab of the new app. You can also start a conversation with glasses and continue with the app.
