Washington DC – Today, a bipartisan group of China’s House Selection Committee, including Chairman John Mourenar (R-MI), ranking member Raja Krishnamoll (D-IL), and representative Darin Rahod (R-IL), introduced the advanced AI security preparation methods –A law dedicated to protecting American AI from foreign threats. Ranking members of House Intelligence National Security Agency and Cyber Subcommittee Josh Gotheimer (D-NJ) accompanied the bill in the introduction.
Advanced AI Security Preparation Act will have a wide range of impacts on national security, including:
National Security Agency (NSA) authority Detect and neutralize threats targeted at advanced AI technologiesProtecting AI systems Through cybersecurity standards, risk assessments and safe development practicesEnsuring American AI leadership By preventing and mitigating spies and intellectual theft
“It’s simple. The US must win the AI race. AI is not just a technological trend, it’s a strategic asset essential to America’s economic and national security. It has immense power. “This bill is a huge victory for our families, businesses and communities, giving our national security agencies the playbook they need to protect artificial intelligence from malicious actors around the world.”
“The Chinese Communist Party is actively targeting US advanced AI technology to undermine our national security,” said Representative Rahood. “When AI becomes an integrated part of society, Congress must ensure that the United States will strengthen our technology defenses and remain an undeniable leader. I need to join my colleagues and introduce advanced AI security preparation laws to ensure that foreign enemies steal, exploit or criticise the US.
Ranking member Krishnamoorthi said, “Artificial intelligence is already one of the most consequential technologies of our lifetime, and the competition to develop and protect it will shape a global balance of power over the next few decades. An enemy like the Chinese Communist Party is trying to exploit the vulnerabilities of its AI infrastructure, so we must ensure that the US is a few steps ahead. This bipartisan law gives the NSA the authority to map these vulnerabilities and chart the pathways to protect its most sensitive AI capabilities.”
“We must implement appropriate safeguards to protect national security and ensure that our country is a major force in innovation,” ranking member Gotheimer includes. “That’s why, as US entrepreneurs continue to face threats from foreign enemies like China, we are proud to be able to jointly lead the bipartisan advanced AI security readiness laws with Congressman LaFoud to enhance protections for American artificial intelligence technologies.
