KnowBe4 launches AI agent to enhance cyber risk management

Cybersecurity company KnowBe4 has announced a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) security agents, known as Artificial Intelligence Defense Agents (AIDA), aimed at enhancing human risk management.

AIDA uses a combination of AI technologies to provide users with personalized and adaptive training, with the dual purpose of changing behavior and automating risk management processes.

The suite’s core component, SmartRisk Agent, leverages behavioral data from across KnowBe4’s product suite to assess the cyber risk posed by individuals. The agent’s multidimensional risk score is intended to assist security professionals by highlighting potential issues across user, group, and organizational levels.

According to a 2024 survey by LastPass, more than 95% of cybersecurity professionals agree that AI-generated content complicates the detection of phishing attacks. This advancement in technology poses new challenges as it allows for the creation of convincing social engineering attacks that are difficult to counter with standard security awareness training.

“AIDA is not just the next step in KnowBe4’s human risk management, it’s a quantum leap forward,” said Stu Sjouwerman, chief executive officer of KnowBe4. We deliver a suite of AI-native agents that transform.” AIDA enables organizations to stay ahead of AI-based cybersecurity attacks by measuring human risk scores to better understand and mitigate threats within the risk environment. ”

The initial release of AIDA includes four different agents: an automatic training agent, a template generation agent, a knowledge refresher agent, and a policy quiz agent.

The automated training agent leverages AI to evaluate 316 metrics across 37 elements across seven knowledge domains. By analyzing a user’s learning history, job role, risk score, behavioral patterns, and language, AIDA can automatically assign the most relevant training materials.

The template generation agent uses generative AI to create highly convincing phishing templates that align with current attack trends. These templates incorporate red flags based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Phishing Scale Framework.

Knowledge Refresher Agent provides concise refresher courses at optimal intervals to help users retain and apply important security concepts.

Finally, Policy Quiz Agent develops intelligent quizzes tailored to your organization’s specific security and compliance policies.

KnowBe4’s AIDA Suite is available as an add-on for customers with Diamond-level KnowBe4 subscriptions and is an important step in leveraging AI to improve cybersecurity.

KnowBe4 provides a comprehensive AI-driven best-of-suite platform for human risk management, creating an adaptive layer of defense that enhances user behavior against the latest cybersecurity threats, the company said. The HRM+ platform includes modules such as awareness and compliance training, cloud email security, real-time coaching, crowdsourced anti-phishing, and AI defense agents.
