Deepseek, the latest AI chatbot in China, is causing concerns among Silicon Valley investors. The company claims that it has developed Chinese chatbots at a much lower cost than high -tech companies in the United States, questioning the impact on US companies, which are investing a lot in AI development.
“I think this is the feat of engineering that is still considered by experts. They are these … very young Chinese engineers, often in the western part of us often restrict us. I found that I was doing a great job to avoid things and constraints, “and we make additional money to it and make these models very expensive. Olaf Groth of Professional Faculty Member and Cambrian.ai CEO tells Catalysts Host Seana Smith.
GROTH believes that the appearance of Deepseek is “good for the whole market,” but he points out that from a geopolitical perspective, it may expand its national security concerns.
“Open source models that generate a lot of data in the United States, and more effectively, the data going to the Chinese server will be a bigger problem,” he warns.
