Common Sense Media and OpenAI partner on free AI training courses for educators
Common Sense Media, a nonprofit provider of family entertainment and technology recommendations, and AI research and development company OpenAI have partnered to create a free AI training course. The ChatGPT Foundation for K-12 Educators is designed to help teachers understand the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and responsibly implement it into their classroom work, according to a news release. . The course is the first result of a broader partnership announced by the two organizations in January and focuses on AI guidelines and education for parents, educators and youth.
The one-hour, nine-lesson course covers topics such as AI fundamentals, data privacy, ethical use guidelines, student safety, and ideas for how to incorporate AI into teachers’ work. It has been piloted in nearly a dozen school districts, with “early and promising results,” the companies reported.
