When it comes to online video streaming, YouTube is one of the most well-known options. Every month, users watch billions of hours of content, all thanks to the platform’s many creators. So it’s no surprise that YouTube is constantly improving and investing in Creator Tools to make it easier to create and edit videos.
For now, YouTube Shorts can serve as an alternative to long-form videos by providing impactful yet easy-to-understand content. Short-form videos continue to grow and show no signs of slowing down, giving creators new options to make their videos more engaging. Dream Screen takes full advantage of AI to help future video makers unleash their inner artist.
Create stunning scenes without green screens
It’s been a while since we last heard about Dream Screen, but in June Google introduced the technology by announcing a tool that allows designers to easily generate virtual backgrounds using AI and prompts. What’s great about this feature is the fact that it opens up a lot of new options for making movies.
Green screen technology already exists, but integrating AI directly into applications eliminates the need for designers to purchase additional equipment. Google explains the process behind X, saying it is “powered by Veo,” its latest generative video model. Like anything new, this one will initially be available only to a select group of creators.
Access will be available to select artists in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, this is only being tested, so the exact date of widespread rollout is unknown at this time. Of course, there are rules for using AI-generated backgrounds, and Google has “built in” protections into Dream Screen to prevent abuse.
How do I access the green screen feature?
To use the green screen feature in your YouTube Shorts, go to the top right corner of the YouTube app when you create your Short. If you’re one of the selected creators with access, you can enable the feature directly from this section. Currently, this feature only supports English, but you can enter instructions directly from the same page to check if you have access.
