IBM Power11 servers promise 99.9999% uptime.
IBM has announced a new Power11 server. It is designed to support artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud and automated applications, enhancing performance and enhancing security.
The company says the Power11 server has an ultra-high uptime rate of 99.9999%. It says autonomous patching, live updates and rolling upgrades ensure zero planned downtime throughout the lifecycle.
Power11 servers are speculated in the future against evolving cyberattacks with built-in quantum-safe encryption and less than a minute of ransomware threat detection.

Speaking about “mission-critical, data-intensive workloads” that IBM Power Servers are supported across banks, healthcare, retail and government, the company has revealed high-end, mid-range, and entry-level servers to accommodate the various workloads available from all launches.
“Power11 is also the first IBM Power Server to support IBM Spyre Accelerator. IBM’s System-on-a-chip-available Q4 2025 is intended for today’s AI-intensive inference workloads,” the company added.
In addition to future proofing against emerging technologies, Power11 servers represent a major leap from the previous generation, including 55% core performance over Power9, while Power10/Power 10 and 2x performance represent up to 45% capacity and twice as much performance per watt compared to comparable X86 servers.
IBM also said that energy-efficient modes can further improve efficiency of servers up to 28% if peak performance is not required.
“We are leveraging a complete IBM stack to enhance our decades of reputation as a reliable hybrid infrastructure for critical workloads while providing hybrid cloud, AI and automation capabilities,” said Tom McPherson, general manager of IBM’s power systems.
The Power11 server is set up for general availability later this month (July 25, 2025), but no IBM Spire Accelerator will be added until the last three months of 2025.
