Located within the IIT Delhi’s Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBME), the facility will initially support research using phantoms and with appropriate regulatory approval, expanding to clinical research involving volunteers. It also serves as a practical training platform for students enrolled in the IIT Delhi Medical Imaging Course.
While reflecting on the journey, Professor Anup Singh of CBME and Professor Amit Mehndiratta of CBME, who led the initiative, said, “It’s a dream that was visualized five years ago. This facility is the pinnacle of our consistent efforts and obscure support from the leadership of IIT Delhi. The MRI Safety Session was conducted on July 9, 2025 by the B-MEC Imaging Pvt, who installed the MRI scanner.
“The facility will support several researchers in various fields of IIT Delhi. This also opens up some opportunities for research cooperation with NCR and healthcare institutions across India.”
