what’s next
This release builds on our history of providing context around images in Google Search and exploring new research innovations like the backstory of Google DeepMind. We will continue to invest in more ways to help determine the origin and history of online content. We will soon expand SynthID validation to support additional non-image formats such as video and audio, and bring these capabilities to more surfaces such as search.
In addition to our own tools, we work with industry partners to drive content transparency and authenticity standards across our product ecosystem, including YouTube, Search, Pixel, and Photos, through our role on the Content Provenance and Authenticity Coalition (C2PA) steering committee.
As part of this, rolling out this week, images generated by the Gemini app, Vertex AI, and Google Ads’ Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) will have C2PA metadata embedded, providing greater transparency into how these images are created. We look forward to expanding this functionality to more products and surfaces in the coming months.
Over time, we also plan to extend our validation approach to support C2PA content credentials. This means you’ll be able to see the original source of content created by models and products that exist outside of Google’s ecosystem.
This work is at the heart of our bold and responsible AI journey. We look forward to further contributing to the future of AI transparency.
