Nvidia, Dell will supply the next US Department of Energy supercomputer
BERKLEY, Calif. (Reuters) – The U.S. Department of Energy on Thursday said Doudna, scheduled for 2026, will use Nvidia and Dell technology. The computer, named after Nobel Prize-winning scientist Jennifer Dodonna, who made important discoveries in CRISPR gene editing, will be housed at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California. At an event in the lab attended by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, authorities said the system will use Nvidia’s latest “Vera Rubin” chip, which was built into a liquid cooling server by Dell, and will be used by 11,000 researchers.
