Tiktok launches a new AI-powered feature that allows you to turn static images into video clips via Tiktok stories.
As you can see in the sequence in this example, Tiktok’s new “AI Alive” option digitally animates static images and turns them into videos based on image sources.
As Tiktok explained:
“We all know that a photograph can say a thousand words, and Tiktok aims to take more of this new form of visual storytelling. “AI Alive” allows creators to easily animate photos and tell richer, visually engaging stories for their community. ”
Tiktok says that AI Alive, available within Tiktok’s story camera, uses “intelligent editing tools” to convert static images into “enhancing attractive, short-form videos with motion, atmosphere and creative effects.”
However, of course, the results will be different. There are already a variety of filter options and tools on Tiktok, Instagram and Snap that offer similar capacity, and these AI animations look great and feel like real video clips. But as the face is distorted and the limbs replicate, things get really weird and really faster. A simple and fun animation turns into a horror show of strange visual mutations.
But that’s another option to consider, and Tiktok is sure that most of the results produced by the options look good enough to use.
Interestingly, Instagram is also considering adding a similar feature to CapCut Clone’s “edit” previewed prior to the launch of the video editing app.

Perhaps Tiktok is the first to join as a way to fight back with IG to replicate the video editing platform.
Either way, it’s another AI tool to consider, and another way to create interesting, perhaps strange pieces in Tiktok that can be shared in your story.
Tiktok says it can be used by tapping on the new AI Alive feature in The Stories camera A blue “+” at the top of your inbox or profile page selects a single photo from your Story Album.
“After creating and posting AI Alive stories, people can follow the story for you, follow the feed or view it on their profile page, giving your followers different ways to connect with your content.”
