Michael Vaughan said the entire episode could have been avoided by using artificial intelligence tools to transcribe and translate the interview.

Ravindra Jadeja addresses reporters at the MCG.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a simple suggestion to the Australian media following the uproar over all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s press conference.

Australian media sources claimed that Mr Jadeja did not answer questions in English, choosing to respond in Hindi.

The media appearance scheduled after the Indian team’s practice at the ground was delayed by 30 minutes. Jadeja started taking questions from Indian journalists. After nine minutes of discussion in Hindi, the press conference ended in time for the team bus to depart. As a result, the player could not stay any longer, according to the Indian media manager.

However, some Australian media outlets claim Mr Jadeja refused to answer questions in English. “The star all-rounder refused to answer questions in English, leaving the Australian media baffled and confused. It was clearly an embarrassing situation for journalists who had gone out of their way to appear,” Channel 7 said in a report. .

In fact, Jadeja never refused to answer questions in English. He mainly answered in Hindi because Indian reporters asked questions exclusively in Hindi.

Relations between the Indian team and the local media soured as the teams started arriving in Melbourne on Thursday. Star batsman Virat Kohli seemed perturbed by the presence of cameras aimed at his family and had a heated exchange with journalists.

Vaughan called the whole thing an unnecessary controversy, adding that the entire episode could have been avoided by using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to transcribe the interview.

“India is a big country. They obviously think it’s going too far to put up cameras at airports and film families. And this is how they’re reacting. It just adds more drama to me. We have an AI system that you can use to translate Hindi into Australian English, so if they don’t want to speak English, you can just input it into the system and it will come out as Australian English. In Jadeja It might not be exactly the same, but it’s going to be pretty interesting,” Vaughn said on the Crab Prairie Fire Podcast.

The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series began at the MCG on Thursday with the series tied at 1-1.
