Hong Kong is set to launch a locally developed ChatGpt-style artificial intelligence (AI) tool with DeepSeek later this year, with the platform featuring urban elements and capable of answering “any kind of questions,” the Innovation Chief said.
Innovation, technology and industry secretary Sandong provided an update on the launch timeline to promote the Greater Bay Area on a media tour organized by Beijing on Friday.
A new tool named “Hkgai V1” was developed by the Hong Kong Generated AI Research and Development Centre (HKGAI) under the government’s Innohk Innovation Programme.
This tool can provide instant responses to user queries via the chatbot interface. Users can enter commands to access information, fill travel itineraries, notes, and generate specific content such as music, videos and more.
“The system can answer any kind of questions,” San said, adding that it is characterized by local characteristics that reflect Hong Kong’s values, including the principles governing “one country, two systems.”
He also expressed his hope that the tool could serve Chinese communities overseas.
The HKGAI V1 is the first in the world to be based on DeepSeek’s full-parameter fine-tuning research model.
