The new Capitol Hill Working Group, which will be responsible for developing laws that will help tackle the expected boom in energy demand from artificial intelligence, is beginning to gain momentum.
A working group led by North Dakota Republican Rep. Julie Feddlechuk has begun to attract lawmakers’ attention after receiving nearly 100 responses to requests for information to promote the future of AI.
“We knew there was a growing interest in ways to meet AI’s energy needs, but the depth and breadth of these responses exceeded our expectations,” Fedorchak said.
The lawmaker said the people and businesses she heard are linked to utilities, data center operators, energy producers, cybersecurity experts and technological innovators.
