HANGZHOU, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) – In the past, harsh weather and difficult terrain made field work at remote solar power plants extremely dangerous. However, AI-powered automated inspection solutions are poised to change this.

Powered by Tencent’s large-scale language model Hunyuan, this inspection solution is highly capable of accurately detecting the smallest obstructions, such as bird droppings on solar panels, while reducing the workload of maintenance personnel and increasing safety. It is one of the innovations that has been recognized and showcased at the 2024 World Exhibition. Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit.

This year’s Wuzhen Summit highlighted the impact of technological advances on people’s lives and the huge potential of leveraging AI to build a human-centric digital future.

As part of the summit, the Light of Internet Expo featured 665 companies and institutions from 53 countries and regions showcasing cutting-edge technology.

According to John Hoffman, CEO of Global System for Mobile Communications, few things have gained more momentum and attention in recent years than AI. AI is evolving into a powerful force with the potential to drive unprecedented transformation across all aspects of business and society. Association (GSMA) Ltd.

From automobiles and pharmaceuticals to agriculture and scientific research, AI technology is helping industries ride the wave of digitalization and significantly increase productivity.

According to the 2024 China Internet Development Report released during the summit, generative AI applications have entered a rapid growth phase.

However, the rapid development of generative AI has increased security risks such as value bias, privacy violations, data pollution, and misinformation. These challenges were a hot topic among attendees, highlighting the need to address them through both legal governance and technological measures.

Teo Nie Chin, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Communications, said technology must be socially responsible and every decision must be made considering social, environmental and ethical impacts.

China leads the world in AI legislation, promulgating interim regulations on the management of generative AI services in July 2023, according to Zhang Weimin, chief engineer at the China Cyberspace Administration. In September, China also drafted guidelines for labeling AI-generated content.

Industry is also stepping up efforts to improve the safety of AI through various technological means, as showcased at the expo.

With the rapid growth of AI-generated content (AIGC), digital watermarking technology has emerged as an important tool to ensure content security. At this year’s expo, Alibaba Security showcased its advanced achievements in this field.

According to Fan Hangyu, senior security engineer at Alibaba Security, digital watermarking embeds hidden information in images, videos, and other media to enable content identification, traceability, and copyright protection, and to protect information. Effectively prevent leakage and content infringement.

ZOLOZ, Ant Group’s identity security brand, specializes in trusted identity verification, combining document recognition, facial recognition for financial applications, and risk management strategies to provide secure and efficient solutions. Since 2019, we have served more than 1.2 billion users across industries such as finance, insurance, and telecommunications in 24 countries and territories, including China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

As AI unlocks endless possibilities across industries, another focus among participants is how humanity can build an inclusive digital world that benefits everyone.

This year’s summit witnessed numerous examples of how AI has brought a better life to humanity, including medicine, transportation, agriculture, and scientific research, among others.

Zhou Hongyi, founder of 360 Group, believes that human-centered principles are essential in science and technology. “AI should have a positive impact on humans. It should act as an assistant, not a replacement,” he said.

Artificial intelligence is evolving to be more than just a tool for technological advancement. “Enhancing human well-being, benefiting billions of people around the world, and advancing technology to benefit everyone,” said Chen Tianxi, Founder and CEO of Cambricon. It has the potential to become a powerful force for creating a better future for all.”

This year’s summit concluded on Friday in Wuzhen, an ancient capital in eastern China’s Zhejiang province. ■
