While AI is still taking root in the sports industry, one-third of professionals have already incorporated it into their work and feel it is accelerating content commercialization efforts. This was a key finding from data and research by AI company Stats Perform on the current and future impact of AI on the sports industry.

The research effort surveyed approximately 750 sports executives around the world and focused specifically on attempts to grow and monetize fan bases with the help of AI.

The success of the sports industry with AI – over a third (35%) of respondents worldwide say AI has already made it easier to commercialize content – is driving a collective impact on the future of the sports industry. It is associated with optimism.

Those who expected AI to have a positive impact on daily work in the future believe that its biggest effects will be:

Content automation (67%) Report analysis (60%) Personalization of the experience (39%) Respondents believed AI would have the least impact on AR/VR experiences (19%).

Among those who expect AI to have a positive impact, they believe AI will be able to do more work in less time (68% agree) and increase the amount of content (65%). ) and believe that the quality of content will improve (60%).

For executives who have already experienced AI being integrated into their daily lives, the Sponsor, Agency, and Brand category saw the biggest boost to commercialization (40%). This group was followed by digital media/apps (35%) and betting platforms (33%).

North American representatives who responded to the survey questions included representatives from their national league (MLB), team (Angel City FC, Broncos, Cubs, Saints), governing body (US Soccer), and various other media entities and advertisers. Employees were included.

The study also measured industry sentiment around fan monetization and reaching different subsets of fans (women’s sports, younger generations, etc.) and can be viewed in full here.
