Communication Arts students from their first to fourth to fourth years implemented artificial intelligence (AI) and responsible social media use at six schools in Madhan on Friday to commemorate Media Freedom Day in 2025.

The schools we visited were Holy Spirit Primary, Kusbau Primary, Tasbau Secondary, Lutheran Day Primary, Mercy Learning Centre and Jomba Elementary School.

Sessions were run throughout the day and targeted various grade levels.

The awareness program focused on educating students about the impact of AI on media and communication, and the importance of responsibly using it, especially in an era of rapid digital change.

During awareness at one of the schools, senior CA students noted that the activity not only promoted digital literacy, but also applied what DWU students learned in their classes to real-world situations.

“Our aim was to encourage younger students to think critically about the content they consume, share them online, and understand how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are shaping the media landscape,” the student said.

This outreach was part of the sacred university’s continued commitment to promoting ethical media practices and providing future communicators with community engagement and practical experience in public education.
