Google began cracking down on AI content in March 2024. Search giant target websites rely heavily on unedited AI writing. Without warning, over 1,400 websites disappeared from search results overnight.
The algorithm update focused on content quality markers that CHATGPT did not consistently meet. Google evaluates expertise, experience, authority and reliability on all content. AI writing has no real human insights and real-world experience.
Data from affected websites is harsh. Sites that use only AI content have removed an average of eight search locations. The traffic on their website fell 17% within a few weeks. Meanwhile, companies that combine AI drafts with human expertise have reduced only three positions and lost just 6% of their traffic.
