With a fully French partnership, Mistral AI experts are incorporated into the media divisions of CMA CGM’s Marseille headquarters and Grand Central. The companies will establish dedicated teams (Mistral AI Factory and AI Media Lab) to collaborate on next-generation AI tools tailored to the group’s strategic needs.
At the heart of logistics collaboration is the Mistral AI Factory. It focuses on automating billing, enhancing document management, deploying intelligent e-commerce tools, and personalizing and streamlining customer experiences. These solutions are intended to reduce administrative burden, speed up response times and support more scalable logistics services.
Rodolph Saade, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM Group, said: “Together, we will develop customized solutions to reform our business with tangible benefits for our customers and employees, from maritime transportation to logistics and media.”
In addition to logistics and transportation, the partnership also covers media innovation. Based at CMA Media’s headquarters, AI Media Lab develops tools such as intelligent content management systems and AI-driven fact-checking technology. They are intended to increase the integrity of information and help CMA CGM strengthen the media presence.
This collaboration is based on CMA CGM’s growing AI investment strategy. The group has committed a total of €500 million to AI initiatives, including partnerships with Google and Confusion, as well as investments in companies such as Poolside and Dataiku. In 2023, CMA CGM co-founded Kyotai, a non-profit research lab focusing on open AI innovation.
Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, commented:
“CMA CGM’s commitment to transforming all activities through generational AI highlights both the group’s ambition and strategic vision. Our partnership aims to serve as a model for how AI is structurally incorporated within the organization to enhance European competitiveness.”
Through Innovation Centre Tangram, CMA CGM also plans to train up to 3,000 employees per year with new AI tools, highlighting the group’s focus on internal proficiency and practical deployment.
This partnership is consistent with France’s broader ambitions to enhance digital sovereignty and industrial innovation through its country’s AI capabilities. CMA CGM was one of the early investors in Mistral AI, establishing it as a European alternative to the dominant US AI developers.
