Brennan of the AI Now Institute said a fast charging approach to artificial intelligence that doesn’t take into account climate impacts poses risks to the industry.
“Renewables aren’t enough right now. We’ve seen large tech companies abandon their climate commitments,” Brennan said. “We see fossil fuel plants staying online, meaning the immediate and concrete harm of rapid technology expansion is colliding with communities and people.”
