Google is deploying ra, a powerful new generation AI feature from VIDS, designed to remove pain from video creation.
While spending hours wrestling with complex software, finding someone willing to be on camera, and editing all the “ums” and “ahs”, video production often finds itself in more trouble than it is worth. Google aims to change that story with Vids.
So far, it seems they’re finding an audience. Google has announced that VIDS has already taken rockets past one million monthly active users. This is a clear indication that teams are screaming for an easier way to make their ideas come true on video.
Your photo is now moving, the avatar talks
Some of the latest additions allow static images to be transformed into movies. Imagine having some great photos of a new product. But we need something more appealing to our social media posts and presentations. You can upload that photo to VIDS and enter a quick prompt explaining what you want to happen. Google’s VEO AI transforms it into an 8-second animation clip with sound. This is an easy way to create eye-catching, branded content in minutes.
For those who are afraid to be on camera, the new AI avatar is a welcome relief. This feature allows you to create sophisticated videos without having to step into the front of the lens. Write a script, choose from a digital presenter selection, and AI handles the delivery. Perfect for creating consistent training guides, product demos, or team updates. Don’t worry about lighting, background noise, or re-recording 20 takes to get it right.
Google is also working on the boring editing tasks. A new automatic transcript trimming tool will listen to the recording and cut off all the filler words and nasty silence with just a few clicks. From a lot of experience, it saves a lot of time.
Based on this, the company confirmed that familiar tools from Google Meet (such as noise cancellation, custom background, and appearance filters) are expected to arrive next month. Google Vids will soon support portrait and square formats, making it easier to create content for a variety of platforms.

With these new tools, Google is trying to make video creation as routine as building a slide deck.
The company is expanding access to Google VIDS, making it accessible to more workspace customers in their business and education plans. Better yet, the basic version of the VIDS editor is completely free to all consumers and offers a variety of templates to help you create something from tutorials to party invitations.
To speed up everyone, Google has also launched a new “Vids on Vids” instruction series. The video guide will showcase the entire process, showcase the best features and provide practical tips to help you quickly create content that looks professional.
The real business sees profit
The company is already working. It is used for employee safety training at Mercer International, a global manufacturing company.
“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Alistair Skey, CIO at Mercer International. “Google Vids gave us the ability to create and curate safety content developed and curated by our organization, rather than having to go to the market to hire very expensive resources to produce it for us.”
It is also a story of speed and scale. Forest Donovan, a full story on the data platform, was impressed with the increased efficiency. “The amount of (high shiny) content that usually takes weeks and can be made in a few hours was amazing,” he said.
By embedding these powerful, simple AI tools directly into your workspace suite, Google claims that video is no longer an exclusive domain for professional creative teams. It has become a fundamental tool for everyday communication, and these updates have made it accessible to everyone.
