Google has released an iOS app for NotebookLM, bringing research tools to understand AI-based research tools on a small screen.
Google introduced NotebookLM in July 2023 and pitched it as an experimental, AI-powered notebook to support research. Previously available online, NoteBookLM has been spreading to mobile with the release of iOS, iPados and Android apps.
The idea for Notebooklm is that it can provide the same kind of insight into content similar to ChatGpt, Google Gemini, or other AI chatbot services. The difference is that you are limited to accessing only the documents and sources you specify.
Due to limited collection of data, this tool can only provide an overview and important data points for the data it recognizes. This helps reduce the likelihood of hallucinations that make up false facts by AI models.
Using the data, NotebookLM provided a considerable number of services, including the ability to ask questions about documents, summaries, and idea generation. It can also be used to create an overview of the podcast style of content. This gives users a way to incorporate summary and help them revise courses.
Mobile version
The Google NoteBookLM app offers the full fat version of most key features.
Create and edit notebooks, add and edit sources, and create overviews in the app. Chat is also available.
However, the main focus of mobile apps is audio content. The Studio tab is available to create podcasts for deep dives into content, and you can also create an overview of the audio.
Audio is not generated on the spot, but can also be downloaded locally to your iPhone or iPad. This certainly helps you create educational content offline, such as flights.
Notebooklm is available as a free download from the App Store. NotebookLM Plus subscriptions are available as part of the Google One AI Premium Plan. This will share notebooks, styling, and increase the number of audio overviews available per notebook.
