Promise joins the generative AI boom and works with Hollywood stakeholders to transform content creation.
A new studio, Promise, has been launched to revolutionize filmmaking using generative AI. The startup, backed by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and former News Corp boss Peter Chernin, has its sights set on marrying AI and Hollywood storytelling. The announcement coincided with the closing of a funding round.
Founded by Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos, former YouTube executive Jamie Byrne, and AI artist Dave Clark, the studio aims to capitalize on the GenAI boom to streamline and power content creation. Promise works with Hollywood stakeholders to develop multi-year films and series, combining creative expertise and cutting-edge technology.
The company is also developing an AI-powered software tool called Muse, designed to assist artists throughout the creative process. Muse aims to provide a streamlined approach to creating movies and shows, integrating generative AI at every step. Promise wants to establish itself as a leader in the evolving landscape of AI-powered media.
Generative AI is gaining traction in Hollywood, with tools like OpenAI’s Sora and Adobe’s video generation models driving industry interest. These innovations are fueling discussions about potential collaborations to reduce costs and speed up production. The launch of Promise further builds on this momentum and marks another step forward in AI-driven entertainment.
