Governments tackling a bespoke strategy to “meet the island’s unique needs”
The Prime Minister says there are no plans to introduce EU laws on artificial intelligence during this administration.
The law came into effect last August and assesses the risks posed by AI applications and promotes regulatory compliance.
Alfred Kannan has confirmed that the government will not introduce any laws here or adopt any elements from European regulations, but is considering a comprehensive AI strategy for Human Island to be presented to Tinwald.
Kannan says the priority is to establish a balanced approach to ensuring appropriate safeguards while promoting AI development.
He added that while the government recognizes the importance of EU law, the island’s approach is to create custom solutions that address the unique needs and challenges facing human islands.
