The fourth edition of the Saudi Arabian Media Forum was held in Riyadh on Wednesday under the theme of “Evolving World Media” and brought together around 200 speakers for over 60 specialized media sessions and workshops. It brought 11 initiatives and interactive experiences.
In his speech, Saudi Arabian Media Minister Salman Bin Yousef al-Dosari welcomed over 2,000 experts to the annual event, including journalists, economists, artificial intelligence experts and entrepreneurs.
Emphasizing the role of a forum introducing the future of media, Aldosari urged participants to “put together a new chapter in the media.”
“Programming and content are married to new heights (together),” he said. “(But) the question: How can we stand up to the future of media in an evolving, challenging landscape?”
To explain this, the Minister showed AI-generated responses to the on-screen questions before highlighting the real question “started as a human”.
“When we talk about the media, we’re talking about the future, about the world born from algorithms and about AI where Saudi Arabia will become a global lab of epic ideas,” he said.
He emphasized the urgency of embracing AI, saying that without AI “meaning a long-standing lack of progress.”
Emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s role in media innovation, he said he plans to host the flagship Expos, which redefines industry innovation by 2030.
With great momentum, Al-Dusali said Saudi Arabia welcomed 24 heads of state “to create a future for humanity” last year. He added that the country has hosted thousands of events and conferences and brought in 42 million visitors. This is an average of two events every two hours.
“This is about creating news and headlines,” he said.
Such transformations are “not traditional,” but are “designed to have international, national and regional influences,” he added.
Their slogan emphasized, “We don’t wait for the future, but we create it.”
The Saudi Prince and Energy Minister Abdul Aziz bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz al-Sort cited the country’s economic diversification plan, Vision 2030, which was introduced in 2016, reflecting the changes that took place in Saudi Arabia.
“I emphasize impact makers (and change makers),” Abdulaziz said.
“What is currently available has not been available in the past, and this is a source of inspiration and we should be open to the world.
“We have lost impact at the national and international level. We have not been effective in providing services in the past,” he says, adding that Saudi Arabia is currently an international responsibility to open up to the world. I added.
“If you need this kind of momentum, you have huge media material, so now you have a different perspective from the whole world,” he said.
