Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched a new multilingual, AI-powered public assistance initiative, announced on February 13, 2026. This pilot project aims to directly increase investor awareness about the regulator’s safety mechanisms.
The market regulator collaborated with Sarvam, a generative AI company known for developing AI models designed for Indian languages. “This initiative was launched in collaboration with Sarvam,” the company said.
The campaign specifically focuses on the ‘SEBI Check’ tool and verified UPI handles which were introduced on October 1, 2025. These features will allow investors to verify UPI IDs, QR codes, and bank account details of SEBI-registered intermediaries before transferring funds, adding an important layer of due diligence to their personal finances.
In this new initiative, a sample of retail investors will receive information explaining how to use these tools effectively. “As part of this initiative, a sample of retail investors will receive informational calls regarding SEBI check tools, verified UPI handles and related FAQs,” SEBI said.
To ensure credibility and avoid confusion with spam and scams, SEBI has clarified that these awareness calls will be made only from SEBI authorized number 1600-313-384.
