Tarleton State University will introduce an artificial intelligence and machine learning program this spring.

Mayfield Institute of Technology tarleton state university is officially accepting applications for its new Bachelor’s and Master of Science degree programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) starting in Spring 2025.

This cutting-edge field of study is uniquely designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in increasingly sought-after technical concentrations.

“The introduction of these two new degrees in artificial intelligence will establish a strong talent pipeline in a rapidly expanding field critical to the Texas economy,” said Dr. Rafael Randaeta, dean of the Mayfield College of Engineering. I did.

“By leveraging our strong industry partnerships and innovative, cutting-edge curricula, our AI bachelor’s and master’s programs will produce graduates with the advanced skills essential to driving high levels of innovation. I will train you.

“This expertise will support innovative advances across critical sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, cybersecurity, manufacturing, energy, defense and other industries that are fundamental to Texas’ economic resiliency and growth. ”

Courses within this program provide students with a broad introduction to AI and the related science and mathematics concepts needed to understand this field. Then, explore key areas of AI, including neural networks, computer vision, robotics, autonomous systems, and reinforcement learning.

Initial courses will be offered to first- and second-year students starting in January 2025, and will open to third- and fourth-year students in the fall.

“The new program allows students to benefit from the state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, technical expertise, and AI and ML research available across the university and department,” said Mircea, chair of the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Dr. Agapie explained. engineering.

“These programs will extend existing bachelor’s and master’s programs into areas of high technical and scientific relevance today.”

The AI/ML field offers a wide range of career opportunities in a variety of industries, including positions as machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI research scientist, software engineer, business intelligence developer, AI product manager, and more.

Such jobs are expected to proliferate, further increasing the need for professionals in this field. This new addition to Tarleton State University’s academic catalog will ensure current and future students have access to fields of study related to regional, state, and global technological advancement and economic growth.
