Today we’re introducing Gemini 2.5, our most intelligent AI model. The first 2.5 release was an experimental version of 2.5 Pro, featuring cutting-edge features across a wide range of benchmarks and debuting at #1 on LMArena by a wide margin.
The Gemini 2.5 model is a thinking model and can reason through thought before responding, resulting in better performance and increased accuracy.
In the field of AI, a system’s “reasoning” ability refers to more than just classification and prediction. This refers to the ability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions, incorporate context and nuance, and make informed decisions.
We’ve long been looking for ways to make AI smarter and more capable of reasoning through techniques like reinforcement learning and thought chain prompts. Based on this, we recently introduced our first thinking model, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking.
Gemini 2.5 combines a significantly enhanced base model with improved post-training to achieve new levels of performance. Now, by building these thinking capabilities directly into all models, we can handle more complex problems and support more capable, context-aware agents.
