Slopaganda is a recently coined term that describes propaganda based on artificial intelligence.
It’s not a wave of fake news or hate speech, but a quiet, insidious manipulation of everyday conversations – a propaganda designed to seamlessly integrate into a digital life.
This trend is already seen on online platforms. According to a research by AIForensics, Tiktok and Instagram, the nonprofits that hold the leading technology platforms that investigate and describe algorithms, are flooded by insufficient AI-generated content.
Experts looked at the labeling of AI-generated content ion Tiktok and Instagram in June 2025 in search results for 13 hashtags (including #Trump, #Zelensky, #Pope, #Health and #History) in Germany, Spain and Poland.
This content “deceives the algorithm” through visual validity and the possibility of viruses. Called “AI Slop,” this phenomenon is made up of sloppy and misleading synthetic content on an unprecedented scale. The study found that 25% of Tiktok search results contained synthetic images with AI, but the percentage was significantly lower on Instagram.
The key role is to be played by the Agentic AI Account, a new category profile specializing in the automated production and distribution of AI-fenerated content. Experts say these types of accounts that use generative AI tools to generate synthetic images on an industrial scale represent a fundamental shift in the creation of social media content.
According to AI Forensics, more than 80% of Tiktok’s AI content comes from agent AI accounts, compared to 15% on Instagram.
Next is the issue of labeling or watermarking topics addressed in European AI law, which the Commission recently launched public consultations to develop guidelines and codes of practice to make AI systems transparent.
According to AI Forensics, only half of Tiktok’s AI-generated content is properly labeled, but on Instagram the figure drops to 23%.
Researchers also discovered “limited visibility” for some labels in AI content. This is not present at all for Instagram desktop users.
