St. John’s, Antigua (CMC) – The University of West India (UWI) five island campuses will hold the second installation of the 5IR Artificial Intelligence (AI) Annual Research Council from June 23-24, 2025.

Building on the success of the first conference held last July, the edition explores the theme of “Bridge the Digital Frontier: AI for Caribbean Sustainability.”

The annual conference serves as a hub for AI experts, entrepreneurs, policymakers and stakeholders to present cutting-edge research, propose transformative ideas, and explore the innovative role of AI in shaping the future of the Caribbean.

This creates an important space for high-level policy debate on how Caribbean countries can shape AI policies to support public sector economic growth, ethical governance, education change and digital innovation. It also highlights local cooperation, workforce development and the adoption of responsible AI.

Among the highlights of this year’s conference is the first AI Robotics track. Professor Justin Robinson, principal of the five island campuses, noted that the track, targeting student researchers and innovators, will highlight the endless possibilities of robotics and intelligent automation as it tackles challenges in the Caribbean.

“We cannot explore AI as a tool of sustainability in the Caribbean without attracting the next generation of Caribbean innovators and problem-solving players,” he said.

According to the conference chair, this year we aim to offer another shocking, quality conference in artificial intelligence in the region, attracting the best speakers both inside and outside the Caribbean.
