For those unnoticed, Trump administrators are currently banning Nvidia from selling H20 AI accelerators in China, which will lead to massive economic losses for the company. Previous reports argued that Nvidia is set to make around $16 billion by selling only H20 AI GPUs in China. Demand has been set to increase rapidly amid the ongoing AI frenzy in China. Now that export restrictions have been established for NVIDIA, the company could lose detention in the local market.
Interestingly, Nvidia’s CEO was accompanied by Deepseek founder Liang Wenfeng, who is said to be a major client of Team Green, and has recently played a major role in slugging demand for AI hardware. Meetings between Jensen and Chinese officials make it clear that Team Green will not step back from doing business domestically, despite being in the way of the Trump administration.
However, Team Green has very few cards left to play. This remains, given that companies must introduce new variants within the country that comply with new trade regulations. On top of that, Nvidia faces tough competition from things like Huawei. Huawei is said to have developed an AI cluster that is likely to outperform Team Green’s cutting-edge GB200 NVL72 system. Therefore, Nvidia needs to come up with an alternative soon.
