House Bill 2175 proposes governing the methods of using artificial intelligence to reject medical claims.
Phoenix – A law has been passed by the Arizona House of Representatives restricting the use of artificial intelligence to consider medical claims.
House Bill 2175 was passed Thursday with 58-0 votes on the House floor, rather than two representatives. The bill is currently moving forward to the Arizona Senate for further consideration.
If signed into law, the bill will be used to deny a request or previous permission for “medical necessity, experimental status, or other reasons involving the use of medical judgment.” It may be banned.
The bill further emphasizes that the provider will review each claim individually before the provider rejects the claim.
State Rep. Julie Willoughby (R-District 13) sponsored the law and told the House Commerce Committee that the bill intended to prevent AI from blocking patients’ access to health care. He spoke.
