Minsk, August 14th (Bell) – Belarus will begin developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology laws in 2026.
The government requires the development of Belarus’ AI laws. “The decision was made by two presidential advisory bodies: the Strategic Project Council, chaired by the President of the NASB, and the Legal and Judicial Policy Council, led by the chairman of the Constitutional Court. After several sessions, they recommended the development of AI law and the establishment of a dedicated technical committee,” Sergei Kruglikov said. “The country will develop the concepts and strategies for AI development to advance and develop the national regulatory framework. We have prepared a complete document package and submitted it to the National Legislative Information Centre to ensure that the AI Technology Bill will be included in the 2026 legislative agenda.”

There have been great progress in this direction. “We held consultations in almost all relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, the Committee on Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, which approved the designation of the National Academy of Sciences as a divisional regulator of AI.
According to modeling methods, artificial intelligence refers to systems of technical solutions, such as software applications using information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, machine learning and/or other computational methods, data processing services, and decision-making mechanisms that emulate human cognitive functions (including non-algorithmic problem solving), and that are comparable to or exceed specific intellectual performance.
