The company has launched a national petition on August 7, 2025 (Globe Newswire) Copyright Protection Materials to further strengthen the need to protect publishers from unauthorized use of New York – Mediavine, the largest full-service advertising management company in the United States, requests copyright in order to request urgent copyright for US copyright. Mediavine, representing more than 17,000 independent digital publishers, has also launched a petition on Change.org, urging industry leaders and consumers to join forces to protect creators from the use of uncopyrighted materials and the proliferation of AI-generated content. “The misuse of copyright-protected materials to train AI models and the increase in AI-generated overlays and summaries that replace source content without attributes or compensation threaten to eliminate the very voices that use AI,” reads the text. “We believe this is a violation of copyright law and denying economic compensation for content creators. Furthermore, it is a threat based on the future of the Internet itself.” In the letter, Mediavine urges the US Copyright Office to consider the following position:
Clear Credits and Rewards: AI-created answers drawn from creator content must clearly link credits, compensation and links to the original source. Fair Use of AI Model Training: AI training on copyright protected content without explicit permission should not be considered fair use as it is all sustainable and expanded, and should undermine economic value, as it should undermine all sustainable and expanded economic value. Data sources such as whether copyrighted content was used. Licensing Framework: The Licensing Framework should allow content creators to opt in and pay for their work. Mediavine’s letter is because the US Copyright Office continues to investigate the impact of AI on its creators. In a recently published report, the US Copyright Office found that training AI models for copyrighted works without consent would erode the value of the original work and challenge the foundations of copyright law, but ultimately recommended a “waiting” approach to regulating the market. “Mediavin is leading the claims for building technology and policy solutions to support the ethical use of AI while defending the visibility, viability and rights of the people behind the content.” “When interests are this high, there is no time for a waiting approach. We welcome further dialogue with the US Copyright Office and continue to advocate vigorously on behalf of publishers and content creators.” Mediavine supports the responsible use of generated AI, but the company is committed to defending publishers’ rights and maintaining the integrity of a free and open internet. The company is actively involved with policymakers and industry groups, and continues to build tools that will boost human creativity rather than just licensing, devaluing AI combat content and replacing it.
