With modern generative AI tools, you can create any visual you can think of in your mind, with a fantasy scene, anything you imagine, something that complements your story, or a custom variation of something you really want to see for whatever reason.

But generative AI tools are also derivative, meaning they can only duplicate existing artwork or images to create something new. Therefore, it is actually not new, but at the same time most people have visions in their heads that are related to works of art that they have already seen, such as a modern city in the style of Monet.

Therefore, many users refer to existing artists and view AI tools to customize the look of their generation.

So which artists are most replicated by AI based on prompts from users?

To find out, Kapwing’s team did some analysis. See how many times popular artists, architects, and directors are mentioned in the Midjourney Discord. This list (by Visual Capitalist) shows the most replicated artists within the AI generation across nearly 5 million prompts.

Note that this may even become impossible in the future, as many artists (or their families) try to limit their names from AI prompts, but for now these artists and styles are getting the most attention from AI.
