Cloud-native threat detection and response startup Rad Security Inc. today announced it has raised $14 million in new funding to expand its platform, market initiatives, partnerships and artificial intelligence security initiatives.
Founded in 2021, Rad Security specializes in cloud-native threat detection and response solutions. The company’s platform focuses on protecting the runtime environment and software supply chain, highlighting real-time Kubernetes security attitude management and identity threat detection and response.
The Rad Security platform continuously monitors the operation of a cluster-wide hybrid cloud environment and proactively alerts clients when detecting security issues. Once you find the issue, the platform can automatically quarantine or eliminate suspicious configurations and workloads.
One of the key features of the platform is what RAD Security calls “behavioral workload fingerprints,” which establishes a consistent, predictable baseline for your organization’s cloud environment. This approach allows for the detection of abnormal activity by identifying deviations from established norms. The platform also carries zero-day vulnerabilities in the software supply chain by codifying baseline behavior into verifiable fingerprints.
From infrastructure to models, Rad Security’s platform further addresses the risks presented by AI adoption with real-time, action-driven defenses for AI systems and workloads, providing the visibility needed to identify the latest threats. This platform ensures that all AI workloads are compliant and secure.
The Series A funding round was led by Cheyenne Ventures and led participation from new investors Forgepoint Capital Management, Lytical Ventures and Akamai Technologies Inc. and existing investors.406 Ventures, Vertex Ventures Holdings Pte Ltd. and Gula Tech Adventures.
A portion of the funding will be used to adapt and extend the RAD platform to tackle new risks from AI adoption. RAD Security will also expand its marketing, sales and strategic partnerships to expand its presence in major industries such as government, high-tech, fintech, insurance, and e-commerce.
“The funding not only strengthens cloud security, but we are working on the future of AI security in real time,” said co-founder and CEO Brook Motta. “In multiple conversations with CISO, we’ve revealed that AI is important to our current business. But with that, we need security solutions that can evolve as our technology stack evolves.”
