MHA’s legislative policy panel was effectively meeting on January 22 to create recommendations on legislation and policy issues that influenced Hospitals in Michigan.
The meeting began with Carlos Jackson of Cornerstone Group, a representative of the government issues based in MHA’s Washington DC, and provided the latest information of the federal government. Carlos focused on the change in policy, which was enacted and considered by the new administration and parliament.
Subsequently, MHA’s defending team shared a state legislative renewal, including the summary of the 2024 Rame Dac Session. In particular, MHA has successfully hindered the number of nurse placement ratio of the government’s obligations and harmful changes to Michigan’s medical responsibility systems. The panel has also received the latest information on the introduced laws that affect the acquired Sick Time Act, like the 340B drug price setting program.
The panel has chosen to act on two issues and created recommendations related to artificial intelligence (AI) and qualification certified policies. The first recommendation has instructed the MHA AI Task Force to evaluate the AI law law so that bill language does not affect the use of AI hospitals in providing care. The second recommendation focused on improving the provider’s qualification process.
